Clubhouse Cup report

The Clubhouse Cup
The second round of qualifying for the Club Championships took place on Saturday. Two scores out of four required for the Club, Seniors and B Class. Gaps are there for a late run. Forty players have played in competition this season but unfortunately not at the same time
Keith Irving ran out the winner with a net 69 piping Scot Laidlaw and Steven Barker by one shot. Steven returned the lowest net score of 74. The comments from the players were very favourable of the condition of the course and the speed of the greens was increased substantial by the piece of new equipment for ironing the greens. This makes the ball run truer so there is no excuse for missed putts apart from the ability of the player.
The Mid week Stableford was won by Gordon Rae with 19 points. Brian Porteous and Derek Johnstone were 2nd and 3rd with 18 points.
This Saturday the Langholm Open takes place. The weather looks promising for once. Over the years this event has had more than its fair share of rain.
