The competition was run as a Bogey Competition where the player plays against the course.
Using the player’s handicap if he beats the par on a hole he gets a point. E.g. A player has a stroke on a par 3 and he scores 3 he will get a point. A 4 would be a draw and a 5 would be a loss.
The range of scores went from +1 to -11 from the 16 players who played.
The Captain, unfortunately was unable to play because he had an argument with a bunker when refereeing at a golf tournament on Thursday.
Birdies were very scarce and Callum Jeffery was the only player to have two. Richard Davies and Simon Tweddle tied on +1 with Richard winning on the back nine holes.
The mid-week Stableford was won by Andrew Porteous with 18 points. Derek Johnstone also had 18 points but was beaten on the last 6 holes.
This week competition is the Ate Irving Trophy and is the 1st of the qualifying comps for the Club Championships. This is an official draw, players are required to put their names down for which draw time they want to play. The draw will be drawn on Thursday night.
There is even a few of the members who can remember Ate who worked for Callum’s Great Grandfather at the blacksmiths on Drove Road.
